Pain on the left side of the body: What could it mean and when should you pay attention to it?

Discomfort in the upper left abdomen, near the ribs or under the rib cage, is often related to digestive or muscular problems. For example, bloating, indigestion, or inflammation of the stomach lining can create pressure that is felt on the left side. Studies suggest that conditions such as heartburn can also contribute to this sensation.

Muscle tension caused by poor posture, heavy lifting, or repetitive movements is another common cause. This type of  pain often worsens in certain positions but subsides at rest.
