Don’t start there.
The floor should generally be one of the last areas you clean because crumbs, food particles, and dust will continue falling while you’re working on the counters, dishes, and appliances.
First remove larger pieces of debris, then sweep or vacuum, and finally mop with a floor-safe cleaning solution.
Once everything is clean, open a window if possible and allow fresh air to circulate.
If there is a persistent unpleasant smell, look for the source rather than simply spraying air freshener. Check the garbage bin, sink drain, refrigerator, dishwasher, damp towels, and areas underneath appliances.
Now comes the part that can prevent the kitchen from returning to this condition.
You don’t need to spend hours cleaning every day.
Try a simple 10-minute reset.
After dinner, wash the dishes or load the dishwasher. Wipe the counters. Put food away. Take out the garbage if necessary. Quickly sweep visible crumbs from the floor.
That’s it.
Ten minutes of daily maintenance can prevent a small mess from becoming a huge weekend project.
And if you’re already dealing with a very messy kitchen, don’t try to finish everything in one burst if you’re exhausted.
Set a timer for 15 minutes.
Clean for 15 minutes.
Take a short break.
Then start another 15-minute session.
Small victories create momentum.
One bag of garbage.
One clean counter.
One empty sink.
One clean section of floor.
Eventually, the entire room begins to change.
So, what do you call a woman whose house looks like this?
Maybe she’s overwhelmed.
Maybe she’s exhausted.
Maybe she’s been taking care of everyone except herself.
Maybe she’s simply having a difficult week.
Or maybe she’s someone who knows that tomorrow is another day to clean.
A messy home does not define a woman’s intelligence, character, worth, or ability to care for her family.
A clean home can certainly feel wonderful, but a person’s value should never be measured by how perfectly their kitchen looks.
Sometimes the most helpful thing isn’t judgment.
It’s understanding.
And sometimes, all a person needs is someone to say, “Let’s start with the dishes.”
So be honest: What would your first reaction be if you walked into a kitchen like this? Tell me in the comments—but keep it respectful!
